Dear Parents & Guardians,
Another great week in the books here at MMS! The forecast is for another lovely weekend weather-wise; hopefully, everyone will be able to get outside and enjoy the weekend! Below are a couple of reminders and announcements.
The Guidance Department and the Peer Leadership program are happy to announce the return of Dialogue Night in an in-person format for the first time in three years. Dialogue Night has been a yearly MMS tradition for more than 30 years, which encourages a discussion between parents and students on a topic that is relevant to the lives of MMS students.
Dialogue Night will be on Thursday, November 17th, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the Middle School as part of the MMS Wellness Program. This year’s Dialogue Night will feature a presentation by local psychologist Dr. Daniel Gallagher who will speak on the topic of “Developing Coping Skills to Turn Stress into Success.”
Dr. Gallagher will begin the program by addressing parents and students in the Auditorium. Students will eventually move to breakout rooms where WELL peer leaders will conduct a workshop on applying three strategies that Dr. Gallagher presented. Adults will join the breakout rooms after the second part of Dr. Gallagher’s presentation, which will review strategies for parents and guardians to use to coach their children through stressful and challenging times. Once the adults join the breakout room sessions, CORE 8 peer leaders will facilitate a dialogue about managing stress in the life of a middle school student. As Dialogue Night involves small group discussions led by peer leaders in 12 breakout rooms, registration will be limited to 240 participants.
Please register early to guarantee a spot for you and your child. To register, please follow the directions on this information page by November 15th.
