Dear Parents & Guardians,
As part of the Challenge Success initiative, the middle school has been examining alternative bell schedules that will provide increased scheduling flexibility and instructional time while reducing the harried pace of the school day. We have identified the Modified Rotating Block Schedule as a potential option for the middle school that is worth further consideration. As a result, we will conduct a two-day trial of this schedule on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, and Thursday, May 16, 2019. Our goal is to expose our faculty, staff, and students to this type of creative scheduling and solicit their feedback to help inform decisions moving forward.
Applications are available at the Millburn Education Center, 434 Millburn Avenue, or on the Millburn School District’s website at https://www.millburn.org/apps/pages/PreSchool_Program.
The Millburn Township Public Schools will soon begin to administer the state-mandated New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA; formally PARCC) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics in grades 3-11. This year, due to the needs of the NJDOE, Millburn was randomly selected to administer an additional ELA field test; therefore, each of our tested grades will have three units of ELA assessments, as opposed to two. Anyone of the units may be the field test, and we are required to administer all three units of ELA which will require an additional day of testing.
Dear 8th-grade Parents/Guardians,
As our 8th-graders’ experience at MMS comes to a close, we celebrate their time in middle school with a celebratory field trip. On June 10, 2019, our 8th-graders will have the opportunity to visit Fountain Spring Lake Country Club for a day of fun, excitement and an opportunity to bond with classmates prior to going to high school.
